Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew is back at practice. Jones-Drew, who missed most of the last two weeks of work amid reports he was dealing with a knee injury, returned to practice Monday and expects to ready for Sunday's season opener against Denver. He says his knee is "a non-issue." He says there are a lot of "false reports" out there.
Ravens, WR Houshmandzadeh agree to terms (AP)

The Baltimore Ravens upgraded their receiving corps again by agreeing to terms Monday with T.J. Houshmandzadeh. To make room for Houshmandzadeh on the roster, the Ravens traded wide receiver Mark Clayton to the St. Louis Rams for an undisclosed draft pick. Clayton, drafted 22nd overall by Baltimore in the 2005 draft, ranks third in Ravens history with 234 career catches and 3,116 yards.
QB Leinart, Texans agree to 1-year deal (AP)

Quarterback Matt Leinart has officially joined the Houston Texans. The former Heisman Trophy signed a one-year contract Tuesday. He was cut by the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday and agreed to terms with the Texans earlier this week. The 27-year-old Leinart will be the No. 3 quarterback on the Texans behind Matt Schaub and Dan Orlovsky.

The NFL heard Peyton Manning's complaints and responded with additional tweaks to the new umpire rule. All 32 teams were told in a memo from the league Tuesday that the umpire will now position himself 12 yards from the line of scrimmage when the ball is snapped instead of approximately 15 yards, which was used during the preseason.

Darrelle Revis is on the practice field for the New York Jets, a day after the All-Pro cornerback signed a four-year deal that ended his 36-day holdout. Wide receiver Terrell Hudgins and tight end Scott Sicko have been released by the Dallas Cowboys. The move was announced Monday. Both players signed with the Cowboys as free agents following the 2010 draft. Former Notre Dame and Indianapolis Colts quarterback Blair Kiel has been charged with drunken driving in suburban Indianapolis. Noblesville police say the 48-year-old Kiel was stopped Saturday evening and that a breath test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.17 percent, more than twice the legal limit for driving.

The Philadelphia Eagles have traded fullback Charles Scott to the Arizona Cardinals for cornerback Jorrick Calvin in a swap of rookie draft picks. Calvin was selected one pick behind Scott in the sixth round. Calvin played one season at Troy but was academically ineligible last year. He had two interceptions and 76 tackles in 12 starts in 2008.

The Browns expect the NFL to review the play in which Detroit Lions rookie Ndamukong Suh grabbed quarterback Jake Delhomme's facemask and violently flung him to the ground.
